This specimen was lot 1294 in Jean Elsen sale 119 (Brussels, December 2013), where it sold for 90 euro (about US$146 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, HESSE-CASSEL, Wilhelm V (1627-1637), AR Taler (Weidenbaumtaler), 1637 LH, Droit: Lion couronné rampant à gauche, entre 16-37. A gauche, une étoile. Revers: Sous le nom de Jahvé rayonnant, un fagot de blé plié par le vent, devant cinq maisons. Griffes et défauts de flan. Très Beau. (Germany, Hesse-Cassel, William V (1627-37), silver thaler of 1637. Obverse: crowned lion rampant to left, dividing date; reverse: below the Name of the Lord, a sheaf of wheat bends before the wind before five houses. Scratches and planchet defects, very fine.)"
Davenport lists 13 different thalers (Dav-6755, -6757, Dav-6759, Dav-6760, -6761, -6762, -6763, Dav-A6764, Dav-6765, -6766, -6770, -6771, Dav-6772, -6773, not counting double thalers) from Hesse-Cassel for 1637. This is one of the more common.
