This specimen was lot 23360 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Escudo, 1852-MoGC. Mexico City Mint. PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder. No actual wear is seen, but central incompleteness in the design and luster that is subdued by tone contributes to the grade." The Mexico City mint struck half escudos 1825-63 and 1868-69 and is the most common mint.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 1.69 g, .875 fine gold, .049 troy oz AGW.
Catalog reference: Fr-107; KM-378.5.
