Sincona sale 80, lot 2174

This specimen was lot 2174 in Sincona sale 80 (Zurich, October 2022), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$192 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA | Volksrepublik, 5 Yuan 1993. Panda. Small date. NGC MS69." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. Small and large date varieties exist.

Recorded mintage: 158,364 plus proofs.

Specification: 1.56 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.050 troy oz AGW. This specimen is 1.56 g.
