This specimen is a common date of a series struck 1870-90 at the Guanajuato mint, which closed in 1900. The SCWC notes an 1885/69 overdate as well as the regular date. This twenty-five centavos piece replaced the two reales struck since colonial times. It, in turn, was replaced by a smaller twenty centavos piece in 1898. The first specimen was lot 9089 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $184. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guanajuato. 25 Centavos, 1885/69-GoR. BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." The second specimen was lot 9090 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $431.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guanajuato. 25 Centavos, 1885/65-GoR. NGC MS-65."
