Mexico 1874-Ca MM 8 reales

from the Stack's Bowers 2017 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72627

This specimen was lot 72627 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $223.25. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1874-CaMM. NGC MS-63. Frosty brilliant luster." This example is an eight reales from the Chihuahua mint, assayers M and M. The MM assayer combination ran from 1868 to 1895. Many of the coins minted this year were sent to China as trade dollars.
