Künker sale 335, lot 4522
Künker Auction 440, lot 3567

The first specimen was lot 4522 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €420 (about US$550 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WÜRTTEMBERG, WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH. Wilhelm I. 1816-1864. 20 Kreuzer 1818. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. (Germany, kingdom of Wurttemberg, William I, 1816-64, twenty kreuzer of 1818. Cabinet piece, about uncirculated.)"

The second specimen was lot 3567 in Künker sale 440 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €480 (about US$660 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Wilhelm I., 1816-1864. 20 Kreuzer 1818. Stempelschneider Johann Ludwig Wagner. Mit geschlossenem Lorbeerkranz und mit vier Rosetten besetzt. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. Privat erworben. (kingdom of Württemberg, William I, 1816-64, twenty kreuzer of 1818, with a closed laurel wreath and set with four rosettes. Choice example, about uncirculated.)"

This is the first twenty kreuzer of the new king and is scarce despite the substantial mintage. The denomination was terminated in 1825.

Recorded mintage: 180,000.

Specification: 6.68 g, 0.583 fine silver, the first specimen 6.71 g, the second specimen is 6,65 g.
