Sincona sale 33, lot 2454

This specimen was lot 2454 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Württemberg, 1806 Königreich. Wilhelm I. 1816-1864 Kronentaler 1817. Stuttgart. Sehr schön. (kingdom of Württemberg, William I, 1816-64, crown thaler of 1817, Stuttgart mint. Very fine.)"

The king issued two thalers in 1817, this scarce one struck to the kronenthaler standard, and the rare Dav-947, struck to the convention thaler standard (28.06 g).

Recorded mintage: 44,000.

Specification: 29.49 g, 0.868 fine silver.
