Künker Auction 440, lot 3571

This specimen was lot 3571 in Künker sale 440 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €380 (about US$523 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Wilhelm I., 1816-1864. 6 Kreuzer 1817. Mit kleiner Krone auf der Vorderseite und KOENIGL : WÜRT : SCHEIDEMÜNZ auf der Rückseite. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Privat erworben. (kingdom of Württemberg, William I, 1816-64, six kreuzer of 1817. Obverse: small crown; reverse: "KOENIGL : WÜRT : SCHEIDEMÜNZ". Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

King William began his reign as a liberal, granting Württemberg a constitution and reforming taxes, customs duties and agriculture, but grew reactionary after the revolutions of 1848. The convention thaler, last struck in 1818, was 120 kreuzer. This type was struck 1817-18.
