Wurttemberg 1818 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3577 in Künker sale 440 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €600 (about US$826 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Wilhelm I., 1816-1864. Kreuzer 1818. Mit kleiner Initiale W auf der Vorderseite. Prachtexemplar. Stempelglanz. Erworben im September 1988 aus dem Lager der Firma Emporium, Hamburg. (kingdom of Württemberg, William I, 1816-64, kreuzer of 1818. Obverse: small initial "W". Choice example, uncirculated.)"
King William began his reign as a liberal, granting Württemberg a constitution and reforming taxes, customs duties and agriculture, but grew reactionary after the revolutions of 1848. The convention thaler, last struck in 1818, was 120 kreuzer. This type was struck 1818 only.
