Steve Album sale 55, lot 3087

This specimen was lot 3087 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "UKRAINE: Republic, AR 10 hryven, 1998, Spiritual Treasures of Ukraine Series - The Kyiv-Pechersk Assumption Cathedral, struck at Ukrainian mint, Kyiv with COA of issue, Proof. The coin is dedicated to the restoration of the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery, an outstanding historical and cultural monument of Ukraine from the 11th-18th centuries." This denomination was used for numerous commemoratives in 1998, including KM 44, KM 45, KM 50, KM 52, KM 53, KM 64, KM 67 and KM 70 (shown here), all struck to the same module. The hryvnia was introduced in 1996 to supersede the karbovanets (1 hryvnia = 100,000 karbovanetsiv). Its sign is "₴". At present (June 2026), US$1 = 45.07 hryven.

Recorded mintage: 10,000, from the Kyiv mint.

Specifications: 33.63 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38.61 mm diameter, reeded edge.
