Steve Album sale 55, lot 3084

This specimen was lot 3084 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "UKRAINE: Republic, AR 20 hryven, 1998, Heroes of Cossack Age - 17th Century Cossack Uprising, struck at Ukrainian mint, Kyiv with COA of issue, Proof. This type portrays a depiction of a fight of a Zaporizhzhya Cossack and a Polish winged Reitar. Aside of the battle scene there are rider figures: Hetman Bohdan Khmelnitsky, leader of the liberation movement, and a Bandura-Cossack, the bard of heroic campaigns." We don't known why this NCLT was denominated twenty hryven when all the other 1998 NCLT's of this size were ten hryven. The hryvnia was introduced in 1996 to supersede the karbovanets (1 hryvnia = 100,000 karbovantsiv). Its sign is "₴". At present (June 2026), US$1 = 45.07 hryven.

Recorded mintage: 10,000, from the Kyiv mint.

Specifications: 33.63 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38.61 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM-58.
