The first specimen was lot 3238 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,212 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"UKRAINE Republik, seit 1991. 50 Hryven 1999, Kyiv. Geburt Christi. Selten. Nur 3'000 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. (republic of the Ukraine, since 1991, fifty hryven of 1999, Kiev mint, on the birth of Christ. Rare. Only 3,000 pieces struck, Choice Proof.)"

The second specimen was lot 977 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[2] noted, "UKRAINE: Republic, AV 50 hryven, 1999, 2000 Years of Christmas - The Nativity, struck at the Ukrainian mint, Kyiv, PCGS graded PF69 Deep Cameo." The hryvnia was introduced in 1996 to supersede the Karbovanets (1 hryvnia = 100,000 karbovanetsiv). Its sign is "₴". At present (June 2026), US$1 = 45.07 hryven.

Recorded mintage: 3,000 proofs.

Specification: 17.63 g, 0.900 fine gold, 25 mm diameter, the first specimen 17.34 g.
