The first specimen was lot 1192 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €260 (about US$360 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NEDERLAND, ZWOLLE, Stad, AR zilveren dukaat, 1660. Vz/ Staande ridder naar r. met zwaard en provinciewapen. Kz/ Gekroond Generaliteitswapen. Gereinigd. (Netherlands, city of Zwolle, silver ducat of 1660. Obverse: standing knight with sword and provincial arms; reverse: crowned arms of the Generality. Cleaned, Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 2052 in the same sale, where it sold for €90 (about US$125 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NEDERLAND, ZWOLLE, Stad, AR zilveren dukaat, 1660. Vz/ Staande ridder naar r. met zwaard en provinciewapen. Kz/ Gekroond Generaliteitswapen. Deels zwak. Einde muntplaat. (Netherlands, city of Zwolle, silver ducat of 1660. Obverse: standing knight with sword and provincial arms; reverse: crowned arms of the Generality. Weakly struck, planchet clip, Very Fine.)"

This type, listed for 1656-60, is not listed as expensive but usually comes in poor condition as most were badly struck. The municipal mints' habit of coining to short weight and short alloy infuriated the Estates General, which spent most of the seventeenth century on a campaign to close them all.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28.25 g, 0.873 fine silver, the first specimen 27,91 g, the second specimen 27,04 g.
