Zeeland 1660 silver ducat Dav-4912
This specimen was lot 780 in Aureo sale 261 (Barcelona, July 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"1660. Países Bajos. Zelanda. Middelbourg. 1 ducado de plata. Acuñación algo floja. Bella. Brillo original. (S/C-). (Netherlands, province of Zeeland, silver ducat of 1660, Middelburg mint. Somewhat weak strike, handsome, orginal luster, about uncirculated.)"
This type was struck for Zeeland, a province of the Netherlands, 1659-68. It was superseded by a later type (Dav-4914), struck 1672-1794, which deleted the ring of beads on both sides. It is priced fairly low in the SCWC but is seldom seen at American coin shows.
