Sincona sale 91, lot 3705

This specimen was lot 3705 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$1,057 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Taler 1767, Zürich. Spruch. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, thaler of 1767, Zürich mint, motto reverse. Very rare in this condition, Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1736, 1739-48, 1751-58, 1761 and 1767-68 and is thoroughly mixed with the "city view" thaler of the same period.
