Stack's Bowers 2021 NYINC sale, lot 24612

This specimen was lot 24612 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Zurich. 1/2 Taler, 1768/7. NGC MS-63. A boldly overdated coin with satiny luster and mottled gray to dark gray toning." The canton of Zurich struck two types of half thalers or gulden simultaneously, this one with the motto reverse and another with a city view reverse (KM 146).
