Sincona sale 95, lot 4654

This specimen was lot 4654 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 700 CHF (about US$970 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Halbdukat 1712, Zürich. Sehr selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Leicht gewellt. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, half ducat of 1712, Zürich mint. Very rare, Very Fine-Extremely Fine, Slightly wavy flan.)"

This type was struck 1712, 1714 and 1716. Half ducats were struck in Zürich throughout the eighteenth century in various styles.
