This specimen was lot 31571 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $1,527.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zurich. Canton gold 1/2 Ducat 1709 MS65 Prooflike NGC, The final date from this two-year issue, featuring the emblematic rampant lion of Zurich atop highly reflective, sun-kissed fields that endlessly shimmer. Due to a expert striking, the design illustrations are incredibly crisp and at present time, this selection is the finest certified Prooflike Specimen, making it an ideal representative of the type. From the Redwood Collection, Part II." The other date for this type, 1707, is much rarer than the 1709 shown here.
