Zurich 1713 1/2 thaler

Sincona sale 95, lot 4657

This specimen was lot 4657 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$624 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Halbtaler 1713, Zürich. Fast vorzüglich. Feine Kratzer. Exemplar der Sammlung Zuberbühler, Auktion SINCONA 16, Zürich, Oktober 2013, Los 6397. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, half thaler of 1713, Zürich mint. About Extremely Fine, Minor scratches.)"

This half thaler, struck 1713-17, is quite a bit rarer than the contemporary thaler.
