Sincona sale 95, lot 4656

This specimen was lot 4656 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$901 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Taler 1713, Zürich. Mit Randschrift. Sehr selten. Fast sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, thaler of 1713, Zürich mint, with edge lettering. Very rare, About Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1713-17 and is fairly common for a Swiss thaler.

Record mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28 g, silver, 40 mm diameter, edge lettered "+ DOMINE +++ CONSERVA +++++ NOS ++++ IN *** PACE ++++", this specimen 27.40 g.
