Sincona sale 95, lot 4658

This specimen was lot 4658 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 1,100 CHF (about US$1,525 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Halbdukat 1714, Zürich. Sehr selten. Gutes vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, half ducat of 1714, Zürich mint. Very rare, About Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1712, 1714 and 1716. Half ducats were struck in Zürich throughout the eighteenth century in various styles.
