Sincona sale 83, lot 5075

This specimen was lot 5075 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$214 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND Zug, Batzen 1622, Zug. Variante mit spanischem Wappen und Jahreszahl im Schriftkreis. Sehr schön. (canton of Zug, batzen of 1622, variety with Spaish arms and the date in the outer legend. Very fine.)" This type was struck 1621-22 and is somewhat scarce. It was followed by KM 33 of 1623-24, the last batzen from this canton in the seventeenth century.
