This specimen was lot 21304 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Venice. Tallero, 1789. Lodovico Manin (1789-97). NGC MS-62. Slate gray toned in the centers with blue-green highlights around portions of the raised surfaces. Minor annealing flecks, as well as a curved mark that runs through the female bust and appears to pre-exist striking, contribute to the grade." This type, the last one before annexation, is recorded for 1789-97. Similar talleros were issued beginning in 1756.
