Macho & Chlapovič Auction 31, lot 2556

This specimen was lot 2556 in Macho & Chlapovič Auction 31 (Prague, October 2023) where it sold for 220 EUR (about US$280 including buyer's fees). The lot description noted, "Italy, World coins. Scudo - 140 Soldi (1618–1623). Venezia. Nice patina. good EF." This type was struck 1618-20 with initials GR (shown here), HZ, VC, CD, ZAV, ZD and TB. It is fairly common for a Venetian scudo and was accompanied by a quarter scudo and half scudo.

Specification: 31.83 g, 0.948 fine silver, 42-43 mm diameter.
