This specimen was lot 31105 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $493.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Venice. Antonio Priuli 70 Soldi (1/2 Scudo) ND (1618-23)-TB MS62 NGC, A choice coin for this crudely struck series with abundant mint luster and boldly-rendered design motifs. Evidence of clashed dies, along with some doubling are apparent on both sides. An interesting selection that rarely makes it to the marketplace, particularly at the Mint State level." The SCWC for the seventeenth century was recently revised to include this coin. Assayer TB (Tomaso Bragadin) operated 1617-18 only and Antonio Priuli was doge 1618-23, dating this coin to 1618. The silver mezzo scudo had a face value of 70 soldi.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 15.91 g, .948 fine silver, 35-36 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 96, Paolucci-10.
