Jean Elsen sale 145, lot 2179

This specimen was lot 2179 in Jean Elsen sale 145 (Brussels, September 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

" ITALIE, VENISE, Antonio Priuli (1618-1623), AR quarto di scudo della croce (35 soldi), s.d. (1618-1620). Sigle GR (Giacomo Renier). D/ Croix ornée, cantonnée de quatre feuilles. R/ Ecu au lion de saint Marc. Beau à Très Beau. (Italy, republic of Venice, doge Antonio Priuli, 1618-23, undated silver quarter scudo of the cross (35 scudi), mintmaster Giacomo Renier. Obverse: ornate cross, cantonned with four leaves; reverse: lion of St. Mark. Fine - Very Fine.)"

This type was struck with various moneyers' initials 1618-23 along with a half scudo and one scudo.

Reported Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 7.96 g, 0.948 fine silver, 32 mm diameter, this specimen 7,68 g.
