This specimen was lot 49386 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 2 Escudos, 1801/791-M MF. Madrid Mint. Charles IV. NGC EF Details--Removed from Jewelry." This type was struck until 1808 at Madrid and Seville. It is the most common Spanish gold coin of the old (reales/escudos) system. The year 1801 includes assayers MF, FM, FA and FA/MF.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.875 fine gold, 0.1905 troy oz AGW.
