Aureo y Calicó sale 448, lot 322

This specimen was lot 322 in Aureo y Calicó sale 448 (Barcelona, March 2025), where it sold for 710 € (about US$928 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1791. Carlos IV. Seville. C. 8 reales. Light small scrapes. Attractive. Rare in this condition. EBC [extremely fine]. Ex Aureo & Calicó Selection 2021, no. 332." This type was struck at Madrid and Seville (shown here) 1788-1808. It is scarce compared to the pesos of Latin America but not rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.896 fine silver, 38 mm diameter, this specimen 27 g.
