Áureo y Calicó sale 347, lot 334

This specimen was lot 334 in Áureo y Calicó sale 347 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €13,000 (about US$17,156 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1791. Carlos IV. Sevilla. C. 8 escudos. Mínimas marquitas. Muy bella. Brillo original. Rarísima y más así. EBC+. (kingdom of Spain, Charles IV, eight escudos of 1791, Seville mint. Minor marks, very handsome, original luster, very rare thus, choice extremely fine."

It is one of a series minted at Seville 1790-91 for Charles IV. The Madrid eight escudos are scarce, the Seville issues are rare.
