This specimen was lot 359 in Aureo y Calicó sale 261 (Barcelona, July 2014), where it sold for €420 (about US$674 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1731. Felipe V. Madrid. F. 2 escudos. Pátina. Rara. MBC. (Philip V (1700-46), two escudos of 1731, Madrid mint. Toned, rare, very fine.)"
Spanish two escudos are somewhat more common than their Latin American counterparts and this issue is no exception. The portrait type was struck in Madrid 1730-34, Seville 1730-42 and extended to the Mexico City mint in 1732. Assayer F and JF are recorded for 1731.
