Aureo y Calicó sale 422, lot 2613

This specimen was lot 2613 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 25 € (about US$33 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1663. Felipe IV. M (Madrid). Y. 2 maravedís. Atractiva. Escasa. EBC- [attractive, scarce, about extremely fine]." This type was struck 1663-64 at Madrid with assayers S and Y. The type is also known 1660-64 from Cuenca, Cordoba, Coruña, Burgos, Valladolid, Trujillo and Seville yet is scarcer than the contemporary four and eight maravedis.
