The specimen shown is a two maravedis struck at the end of the reign of Philip IV of Spain. The type is known 1660-64 from Cuenca (shown here), Cordoba, Coruña, Burgos, Valladolid, Trujillo, Seville and Madrid yet is scarcer than the contemporary four and eight maravedis. The mintmark is on the reverse and resembles a "Λ" punched on top of a "C".
