Sedwick sale 25, lot 51

This specimen was lot 51 in Sedwick sale 25 (Winter Park, FL, May 2018), where it sold for $5,950. The catalog description[1] noted, "Granada, Spain, cob 4 escudos, (159)3M, REGNORVM in legend, very rare, PCGS AU55. Broad flan with choice full cross-and-tressure, full REGNORVM in legend, bottom tail of last digit of date (only known date for this type), choice full shield with bold M-G to right and denomination IIII to left, nearly full crown, toned around details. PCGS #35328786." Cayón mentions no 4 escudos for this mint, altho listed therein is a 1588 2 escudos and a 1593 escudo from Granada.
