Áureo y Calicó sale 345, lot 311

This specimen was lot 311 in Áureo y Calicó sale 345 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €110 (about US$145 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Enrique IV (1454-1474). Burgos. Medio real. Escasa. MBC. (kingdom of Castile and Leon, Henry IV, 1454-74, undated half real, Burgos mint. Scarce, very fine.)"

This type was struck also at Cuenca, Segovia, Seville and Toledo. We also note another half real, Cayón-1621, with quartered arms on the reverse. Henry was king of Castile and Leon but not of Aragon or Navarre. His niece, Isabella, and Ferdinand of Aragon would unite Spain.
