Künker sale 441, lot 5126

This specimen was lot 5126 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,101 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SPANIEN, KÖNIGREICH Enrique IV., König von Kastilien und León, 1454-1474. 1/4 Real (Cuartillo) o. J., Burgos. RR Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Cayón, Madrid, Dezember 2006, Nr. 1082. (kingdom of Castile and Leon, Henry IV, undated quarter real, Burgos mint. Very rare, handsome patina, extremely fine.)"

Henry IV had a few cuartillos struck in silver at Cuenca, Segovia and Seville (Cayón-1623 thru -1626) but had a large quantity struck in billon at Avila, Burgos (shown here), Coria, La Coruña, Cuenca, Ferias, Guadalajara, Jaén, Leon, Madrid, Medina del Campo, Murcia, Palencia, Segovia, Seville, Toledo, Toro, Valladolid, Villalon and Zamora.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common mint.
