Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 37429

This specimen was lot 37429 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 12 Shillings, ND (1637-42). Edinburgh Mint. Charles I. NGC AU-53. Third Coinage. Falconer's Anonymous issue. Ex: L. S. Forrer (sold 1951)." This twelve shillings would have traded for one English shilling. The reverse motto, "QVÆ · DEVS · CONIVNXIT · NEMO · SEPARET ·", means "What God hath joined together, let no man put asunder".
