This specimen was lot 33277 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 12 Shillings, ND (1625-34). Edinburgh Mint. Charles I. PCGS AU-50. First coinage. Pleasingly toned, with a gunmetal gray nature and golden hints around the devices, this example also retains some glints of brilliance, making it a charming representative of the emission. From the Richard August Collection." This was struck in the name of Charles I with the bust of the deceased James VI (I). It was probably equal to the English shilling.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 5.76 g, silver, 31 mm diameter.
