This specimen was lot 23579 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 30 Shillings, ND (1625-34). Edinburgh Mint; im: Thistle. Charles I. PCGS VF-25 Gold Shield. Some rather moderate wear is exhibited on the obverse, but an otherwise solid representation of this Scottish issue, offering a charming tone and great detail on the reverse." Judging from the weight, this coin would have traded for three English shillings. Later issues of this denomination were worth only a half crown in England.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 17.94 g, 0.917 fine silver.
