Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 37404

This specimen was lot 37404 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 30 Shillings, ND (1603-25). Edinburgh Mint. James VI. PCGS EF-40. Obverse: King on horseback right, holding upright sword; Reverse: Coat of arms. From the Richard August Collection." The thirty shillings Scots was equal to half an English crown. Two types exist for James VI; this one, with the Scottish arms in the first quarter, and KM 9, with the Scottish arms in the second quarter.

Specification: 14.8 g, 0.917 fine silver, 35 mm diameter.
