This specimen was lot 46017 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. Shilling, ND (1603-25). mm: thistle. James VI. NGC AU-58. Deeply toned with bold central elements and minor weakness at the border. Glossy and well centered, with an old mark noted at SPINA. Surprisingly SCARCE with this degree of sharpness. From the Loch Ness Collection." This obscure type was worth about an English silver penny. It was accompanied by a similar two shillings (KM 6) and twelve shillings (KM 7, 8).
