Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 37439

This specimen was lot 37439 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. Turner (2 Pence), ND (1629). Edinburgh Mint. Charles I. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, VF Details. From the Richard August Collection." This specimen was offered again as lot 75691 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $65. This type was worth a little less than an English farthing and was struck for Charles I before he embarked on the Civil War. The denomination comes in many types (KM 37, 41, KM 65, KM 66, KM 67, 68, KM 69, KM 100, 114, 130, 137, 138) and was last struck in 1697. Many varieties exist in the style of the crown.
