This specimen was lot 71442 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 2/3 Taler, 1782-IEC. Dresden Mint. Friedrich August III. NGC MS-63. The sole finest example in the NGC census, this blast white specimen exudes lustrous brilliance from every angle and offers tremendous eye appeal. A minor planchet crack near the top on the obverse is noted merely for completeness." This type was struck 1768-88 and is common. Although marked "⅔", it was worth only half a thaler.
