Saxony 1782-IEC thaler Dav-2695
This specimen was lot 1742 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €190 (about US$263 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, SAXE, Friedrich August III (1763-1806), AR Taler, 1782 IEC, Dresde. D/ T. à d. R/ Écu ovale couronné entre deux rameaux de laurier. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Frederick Augustus III, 1763-1806, silver thaler of 1782, Dresden mint. Obverse: head right; reverse: crowned oval arms between two laurel branches. Very Fine/Extremely Fine.)"
This type is listed for 1780-90 and is common. A mining thaler also exists (Dav-2696).
