Saxony 1780-IEC 1/3 thaler

from Steve Album sale 39, lot 3555

This specimen was lot 3555 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $96. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SAXONY: Friedrich August III, 1763-1806, AR 1/3 thaler, 1780, initials IEC, traces of adjustment marks on rim, quite lustrous, especially on the reverse, EF-AU." This type was struck 1780-90 and is fairly commmon.
