This specimen was lot 33719 in Heritage sale 3098 (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Saxony. Friedrich August II Taler 1765-EDC MS64 PCGS. A fully struck near-gem sheathed in satin brilliance and displaying hardly a stray mark of note to deter the eye as it moves across opulently silky fields. Soaring devices produce a firm impression of standout quality." This type was struck 1765-68 and is the most common type of the first years of his reign, which lasted until 1825.
