Künker Auction 441, lot 4475

This specimen was lot 4475 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,101 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Friedrich August III. (I.), 1763-1806-1827. 2/3 Taler (1/2 Konv.-Taler) 1765, Dresden. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 61 (8584745-002). Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Erstabschlag, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (electorate of Saxony, Frederick Augustus III, 1763-1807, two-thirds thaler or half convention thaler of 1765, Desden mint. Graded extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1765-68; see also another gulden, KM 973, struck in the name of the regent Xaver. Altho valued at ⅔ thaler, this coin only weighed half a thaler, reflecting the drop in the value of the gulden.
