This specimen was lot 1481 in Goldberg Sale 146 (Los Angeles, July 2025), where it sold for $66. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Saxony. Double Death Groschen, 1694-IK. Johann Georg IV. Pyramid with shields. Reverse: Legend. PCGS graded AU-58. The Augustana Collection." This double groschen is one of an extensive series of commemoratives issued on the death of elector John George IV. His brother Frederick Augustus succeeded him and promptly embroiled Saxony in the Polish wars, to the electorate's detriment.
