This specimen was lot 1469 in Goldberg Sale 146 (Los Angeles, July 2025), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Saxony. 1/2 Taler, 1630-HI. Johann Georg I. Cleaned. Only one graded at PCGS. PCGS graded Extremely Fine Detail (Graffiti in obverse field). The Augustana Collection." This type was struck 1630-56. It is not rare but scarcer than the accompanying thaler (Dav-7601). In 1630, the elector issued a extensive series commemorating the centennial of the Augsburg Confession, including a half thaler (KM 408).
