This specimen was lot 74587 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 1/4 Taler, 1611-HvR. Dresden Mint. Johann Georg I. PCGS EF-45. A wholesome, problem-free example, with dark gray field toning that highlights the raised devices." This type was struck 1601-11; this example realized less than half the catalog value. This date comes with and without mintmaster's initials "HvR". Other quarter thalers of 1611 include KM 38 (death of Christian II) and KM 40 (Johann Georg and Augustus Friedrich).
