from Steve Album sale 45, lot 2610

This specimen was lot 2610 in Stephen Album sale 45 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA: SALZBURG: Sigismund von Schrattenbach, 1753-1771, AR kreuzer, 1755, a wonderful mint state example! PCGS graded MS64, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type was struck 1754-59 and has a very low catalog value. This example realized eight times the catalog value in EF. Billon kreuzer were struck until 1764, the denomination was converted to copper after 1782. Four kreuzer made a batzen and 120 kreuzer made a convention thaler.
